The following are a few links to events and presentations geared toward public awareness, education, and information relating to dating, romance, and sexuality in light of the effects of disability/aging:
- Sexy Spring V (June 13th-15th, 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) Mingling Disability and/or Aging with Dating, Romance, Relationships, and Sexuality was a very informal and general open discussion among participants of dating, romance, relationship, and sexuality topics in light of disability and/or aging. This workshop was a perfect chance for individuals experiencing various effects of disability and/or aging, past/present partners, family, friends, colleagues, and professionals to share their experiences, knowledge, challenges, solutions, and questions. Equally important, this workshop offered an excellent opportunity for the general public -- individuals who do not experience, or have little familiarity with, the effects of disability or aging as well as potential future dates, lovers, and partners -- to share their curiosities, questions, or concerns. Potential topics included, but were not limited to, common effects, challenges, myths, stereotypes, prejudices, solutions, resources, strategies, techniques, and assistive technology.
- Midwest Abilities Expo (September 12th-14th, 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) Disability and Intimacy -- Myths was a short panel presentation and discussion followed by a question-and-answer session.
- Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute 2009 Educational Series (February 2009) Disability and Intimacy was a 60-minute presentation for cross-disciplinary rehabilitation professionals briefly covering myths, challenges, service motivation, service strategy, key service participants, cross-functional team member roles, service activities, professional awareness, and related resources.
- Pagan Living TV segment by Briana Crusan discussed the movie "The Sessions" in December 2012, particularly what it says about sexuality for individuals with or without disabilities.
